A New Way to Get Connected!

Enhance Flexibility with Ethernet/IP

Omron’s NS Series now supports Ethernet/IP connectivity. It uses direct addressing to monitor the PLC, which is much easier than before. With this new Ethernet/IP connectivity, symbols can be used in the CX-Designer to be defined as the points to monitor, which in return enables flexible addressing in NS as NS refers to symbol-address mapping table for addresses referring. Thus, if the address in the PLC is modified, users do not have to go through the hassle to scan through the screen data to change PLC addressing like before. Evidently saving cost in development and troubleshooting.

Tag names are managed at the PLC with the CX-Programmer. For example, create screens with tag names without typing the physical address. All devices with access with Common "Tag".

PictBridge - Solution for Printing

Omron’s NS series now supports PictBridge function for screen printing function. If you have a PictBridged-enabled printer, you can now print any screens that are displayed on your NS by simply just connecting a USB cable from NS to your printer.

Connect your HMI to PictBridge-compatible printer using standard USB cable.

Smart Platform

A Smarter Way to Monitor Your System

NS Programmable terminal, inherited with the features of the Smart Platform, enables easy navigation of the system with the connectivity of your choice. The NS Programmable Terminal is able to connect to multiple PLCs via Serial Network, Ethernet Network or Controller Link Network.

With the connection to the network, it enables the user to perform remote maintenance. Uploading and downloading of files and programs can also be done from the control room.

One-Minute Concept of Smart Platform

The NS comes with Smart Active Parts which is an Active-X like component, with built-in intelligence that enables communication directly to devices without having to develop any Ladder Logic program specifically to monitor or control a device. This helps to shorten the engineering time for development of the screen data and programming logic. Users only have to drag and drop their choice of device to monitor from the Smart Active Parts library, thus the terminology “One-Minute Concept”.

The Smart Active Parts (SAP Library) for the NS Series makes it easy to connect to OMRON PLCs and components, without creating ladder programs and screen data. OMRON provides a development environment that requires with no programming and no screen designing.

Continuous Enhancing of Omron Networking Capabilities

Users are able to change the display language by just a push of a button. During the creation of the screen data, select the appropriate language type and key in the text. When the language type is selected, all labels in the NS project will switch to the appropriate display language type.

Without a computer or down on battery? Need to read/modify the Ladder Logic Program? Use the Ladder Monitor feature innate in NS. Just download the program together with the screen data and you will be able to read the program on screen.

In addition, users can also use the Switchbox function and Device Monitor Function found in the System Manual. The Switchbox function acts as a mini Mimic which helps to summarize related IO information in one screen for simple monitor and control. The Device Monitor Function serves as a watch window for you to monitor and control multiple hosts in one screen.
