Liquid Leak Detector with Strong Noise Immunity

K7L-AT50 Liquid Leakage Detection Sensor

May 23, 2004 (ASIA PACIFIC) - Omron introduces K7L – a reliable Liquid Leak Detector, able to detect any liquid with impedance as high as 50 Mega ohms. This means detecting liquid such as Distilled water, Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or even Pure water will no longer be a problem.

Using Polyethylene/ Fluororesin as the sheath of the sensing band, K7L Liquid Leak Detector boasts a high degree of chemical resistance and high temperature of up to 200°C which make liquid leakage detection possible even in hazardous conditions.

With its subminiature size [29(H) x 13(W) x 40(D) mm], this ultra-compact sensor saves on panel space and therefore, costs. The power supply circuit and the detection circuit are isolated, thus allowing multiple units to be installed together. Also, its DIN rail click-on system makes installation easy.

K7L Liquid Leak Detector is specially designed to have a high level of noise immunity. Countermeasures against external noise are especially important for the sensing band and connecting cable due to the presence of external noise such as antenna. As such, K7L incorporates a noise canceller circuit that uses a three-conductor cable, to remove all wanted interferences, thus guaranteeing a more reliable operation.

In addition, to eliminate failure due to disconnection of sensing band, a disconnection detection function is incorporated into the amplifier. Any disconnection will be notified through the LED indicator, as well as transistor output, which can be connected to an alarm. In the event that a disconnection is detected, in order to avoid instability due to further contact of the disconnected part, the operating status will be held.

Parallel connection of a single unit of K7L is also possible with the uses of terminal blocks to connect Sensing bands in parallel. This increases the flexibility in the placement of sensing bands and allows more places to be covered with just one K7L Liquid Leak Detector.

Successful applications include: liquid leakage detection of chemical tanks; detection of condensation and water leakage in computer server room; and detection of leakage of coolants.

K7L is adhered to the applicable UL, CSA standards, and CE marking so that it can be used in both domestic and export markets.
